Pro Skater Neen Williams Talks Life In Rhythm

Eugene Williams, mostly know by Neen Williams, is a rad human that also happens to be particularly good on a plank of wood and four wheels. When we think of pro skaters, being a health foodie and going to the gym daily doesn’t quite fit the mold in our minds. It’s safe to say Neen is outside of all these presumptions and you can find him cooking up something original or topping another acai bowl after having spent the morning in the gym or rolling around in the streets. Neen never seems to run out of inspiration in the kitchen. We love seeing how he keeps his Life In Rhythm from watching his always entertaining and insightful Instagram stories, but we wanted to know more. If you’re not into skateboarding, that is irrelevant and we highly suggest you see what Neen is eating or cooking, daily on his Instagram story and read on below. You can also give him a follow, here! @neenowilliams

Hometown and current place of residence
My hometown is Chicago Illinois, I currently reside in the beautiful city of Los Angeles California

When and how did you get into skateboarding?
I got into skateboarding around the age of 13, how I got into it was basically seeing friends and other kids in school doing it, I remember being like” I want to learn how to do that” so I eventually got ahold of a skateboard, fell in love and haven’t put it down since.

You’re obviously a huge foodie and are always cooking or blending up something healthy and amazing. What’s your favorite part about cooking?
My favorite part of cooking is the calm and tranquil feeling you get while your preparing your food, the love, the heart and soul you put into it. It’s really just an amazing thing to channel all of those feelings almost everyday. Makes me feel like a better person.

Typically one might find granola, bananas, honey and things on top acai bowls, though we’ve noticed that you use chopped apples as an acai bowl topping. What’s up with the apples?
Chopped apples are an amazing topping for an acai bowl, its crazy, the sweet/sourness of an apple complements the almost tangy, sweet bitterness of the acai. Together it’s truly delicious!

What’s your favorite acai bowl recipe to make at home?
My personal favorite acai bowl to make at home is the Tambor acai guarana mix packet, blended with frozen organic strawberries and frozen organic blueberries, a banana and a splash of almond milk, I like adding green superfoods and a cocoa flavored plant protein. It gives the acai base a chocolaty taste. Then you top it with bananas, granola, diced apples, almond butter, crushed almonds for more crunch, cocao nibs, coconut chips and honey. Best bowl ever!

You’re in your kitchen pretty much everyday, where do you draw inspiration from to whip something up?
My inspiration in the kitchen comes mostly from dishes I’ve had in the past and the curiosity of wondering if I can make replicate it or make it better.

What does ‘Life In Rhythm’ mean to you?
What ‘Life In Rhythm’ means to me is basically keeping you body and mind fed with only the purest and the best! Keeping the positivity flowing and the energy high!
