This may go without saying, but we make a lot of açaí bowls and smoothies. We’re always testing, tasting, and trying out new ways to achieve that perfect blend. There are two main factors that we feel are the most important when it comes to a blend; quality ingredients and the consistency of these blended ingredients. Our ‘Grade A Especial’ rated acai covers the ‘quality’ part, and today we’re getting into the ‘consistency’ part.
Our secret: frozen bananas.
Right you now you might be thinking, ‘does frozen vs. fresh bananas really make that much of a difference’? YES. Having all frozen ingredients gives the blend a dense creamy consistency. Not to mention it won’t have your blend in the partly melted phase by the time it hits your dish; we think an acai bowl should be thick, and a smoothie, creamy.

– Get a bunch of organic bananas. We like to use local Apple Bananas or ‘Ice Cream’ Bananas. If you’re in Hawaii and have access to these, we recommend them both, highly.
– Up next, peel the bananas.
– Lastly, toss them in a container and put them in your freezer.
