Based in L.A., Fernanda Alvarez is all about adding wholesome ingredients and superfoods into your everyday meals. Through her own wellness journey, she started experimenting with an all plant-based vegan diet. As a chef and recipe developer for over 10 years, she became obsessed with interpreting some her favorite nostalgic recipes in a new and healthy way. She started sharing them with her online community through her recipe and wellness blog, La Healthy Mexicana, and has encouraged and others on their wellness journey through nutrient rich recipes. 1. Where do you call home?
Home’s where the heart is. I have three homes, Miami, Mexico City and L.A. since I have family in all 3 places. I currently spend most of my time in L.A.

2. When did you realize your love to food and cooking?
Growing up I used to help in the kitchen all the time. My two Grandmas taught me a lot.

3. You’re always sharing new healthy and amazing recipes. What are your favorite part about creating new dishes?
Before sharing each and every recipe I make sure they’re perfectly balanced and full of flavor. I’d never share something I wouldn’t eat. Therefore all my recipes are suitable for everyone.

4. Where do you draw inspiration from?
From my own needs. Whatever I crave or my body needs and of course, lots of inspo from my Mexican roots.

5. What’s your favorite acai bowl recipe to make at home?

1 pack unsweetened Tambor Acai pulp
1 cup frozen berries
1/2 cup coconut milk
1 tsp. organic vanilla extract
1 tsp. unsweetened peanut butter
1 tsp. flaxseed
1 tsp. hemp hearts
10 drops clear liquid Stevia

*Blend and serve. Top with gluten free granola, cacao nibs, maple syrup, sliced strawberries, raspberries, chia seeds and shredded coconut.

Balance, passion and power. If you combine these 3 you have your life in rhythm.
