Having a daily bowl of Tambor Açaí blended with your favorite fruit already seems too good to be true, but if you want to make your experience even more heavenly try topping it with some delicious homemade granola. Homemade granola tastes better than any store bought granola we’ve tried. And what we like the most about making our own is that we can add all our favorite healthy ingredients and know that we will love the taste and feel good eating it! Today we are sharing this amazing super flexible, easy-to-make granola recipe with you. Enjoy!

BE FREE Granola

3 cups gluten free rolled oats
1 cup sliced almonds
1 cup chopped walnuts or favorite nut
3/4 cup shredded coconut
1/4 cup brown sugar or coconut sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup or honey
1 cup of raisins or preferred dried fruit (optional, and added ONLY after granola is done cooking)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup flax seeds
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon

Heat oven to 250º. In a large mixing bowl, stir together all the dried ingredients. Whisk the liquids in a separate bowl and pour the liquid mixture over the oat mixture and stir with a wooden spoon until all the oats and nuts are coated. Spread onto a large sheet pan. Bake, stirring occasionally (every 10-12 minutes) with a spatula, until the mixture turns a nice, even golden brown, around 30-40 minutes, depending on oven. Remove granola from the oven and allow to cool completely, stirring occasionally. Add dried fruit. Store cooled granola in an airtight container.

The fun of this recipe is the ability to customize it. Things you can add to your granola to make it extra delicious and healthy:

– goji berries
– pumpkin seeds
– sunflower seeds
– hemp seeds
– chia seeds
– cocoa powder (add 2 extra tbs of vegetable oil or apple juice per 1/4 cup of cocoa powder)
– chocolate chips
and the list goes on…

There is nothing more delightful than having the ingredients you love combined to top a delicious bowl of Tambor Açaí. What a treat!
